ABILENE, Texas - A service of celebration for former Hardin-Simmons golf coach Bill Jeffries will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church.
Jeffries is a longtime Abilene resident and coached golf at HSU from 1976-84. He was also a professor in the physical education department. He later went into administration as a principal at Colorado City and Eula.
He was an avid runner and also served as a deacon at First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha, and two children, Gina Kiser of Burnet and Scott Jeffries of Grand Prairie; a son-in-law, Roy Kiser; a daughter-in-law, Leah Jeffries; six grandchildren, Derek, Drew, and Luke Kiser and Grace, Lilly, and Joy Jeffries; two sisters, Sharon Fain of Lubbock and Phyllis King of Denton; two brothers-in-law, J.R. Fain and Barry King; and sister-in-law Diane McIver.
