Cowboys Drop Second Straight ASC Game
ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team had 20 turnovers, shot 42.4 percent and allowed Concordia to make 12 3-pointers in a 92-75 home American Southwest Conference loss at the Mabee Complex on Saturday.
In the first half the game went back and forth and Concordia led 39-36 with five minutes to play in the half, but the Tornados scored seven straight points and eventually led 53-41 at halftime.
In the second half, Nick Haynes hit three 3-pointers early on and pushed the lead out to 17 at 64-47 with 16:21 to play. The Cowboys never recovered in dropping their third game in the last four outings.
Concordia had five players in double figures. Josh Johnson led the way with 17, Nick Haynes had 15 and Darius Anderson had 13.Henry Riasco added 12 on four first-half 3-pointers.
The Cowboys went 19-for-30 at the foul line in the game and Concordia went 18-for-20.
HSU is now 12-4 on the year and 9-3 in ASC action. Concordia improved to 9-8 overall and 7-6 in ASC play. HSU hosts Texas Lutheran on Thursday at the Mabee Complex.
