Cowboys Earn Postseason Honors


MINNEAPOLIS - Seven Hardin-Simmons football players were named to the D3football.com all-South Region team as announced by the site in its annual awards. The team is picked by sports information directors and D3football.com staff.

Center Ryan Hunter, tackle Brian Fitzgearld and slotback Mychal Carrillo were named to the first team offense. Matt Warnasch was named to the first team defense as a safety.

Tight end Jerrad Grisham and safety Michael Tracy were named to the second team and guard Glenn Revell were named to the third team.

The three offensive linemen and tight end led a prolific Cowboy offense that averaged 39 points and 479 yards per game. Carrillo had 87 catches for 1076 yards and 12 touchdowns and Grisham had 20 catches for 378 yards and five TDs.

Warnasch led the ASC with 112 tackles and Tracy had 82 tackles. All but Tracy were seniors for the Cowboys.

In another award release, Jimmie Keeling was named the South Region Division III Coach of the Year for the third time by the American Football Coaches Association. He led the Cowboys to a 9-2 record and led them back to the playoffs after a 6-4 record in 2007.
