ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team beat Ozarks 1-0 in overtime in American Southwest Conference action Saturday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowboys won on a penalty kick by Chris O’Brien at the 96:25 mark.
The game was delayed for twenty minutes at the 36th minute mark due to an Ozarks player injury. Once action resumed it was a battle to the end with a total of 17 fouls during the game.
Logan Waters pitched the shutout in goal and had five saves. Neil Thompson had one save for the Eagles. The Cowboys outshot the Eagles 13-12 and both teams had three corner kicks each. UTD also won the battle of corner kicks 10-5.
The Cowboys are now 5-2 overall and 3-1-0 in conference play and the Eagles are now 3-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Cowboys return to action September 30 at Mississippi College. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
