Cowboys Fall In Season Opener

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team fell 1-0 to No. 12 Trinity on Friday afternoon in the season opener at the HSU Soccer Complex.

Trinity scored the game's lone goal in the 36th minute when Wesley Mitchell received a nice pass from Christian Sakshaug in traffic and he was able to finish.

The Cowboys had 10 shots in the contest with two on frame. Trinity had 20 shots in the game and seven on goal.

Trent Ivy was solid in his first career start in goal with six saves for the Cowboys. He took the hard-luck loss to fall to 0-1. Blake Lieberman improved to 3-0 for the Tigers with the shutout.

HSU (0-1) will return to action at 3 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Southwestern. Trinity is now 3-0 on the year and will face Texas-Dallas at 5 p.m. at HSU on Saturday.
