HSU Splits Weekend Tennis Matches

Hardin-Simmons’ men’s tennis team split a pair of matches this weekend. The Cowboys defeated Howard Payne in ASC West action on Friday, 6-3, and lost to Birmingham Southern 6-1 on Saturday evening at UT-Dallas in Richardson.

In the HPU match, the Cowboys received wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and Andy Cariens, Emmanuel Navajes, Trey Chavez and Cullen Dees each won singles matches.

In the loss to Birmingham Southern the Cowboys lost all three doubles and Dees won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 doubles. A power failure ended the match with HSU up a set at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, but with the outcome already secured the matches will go unfinished.

HSU is now 3-6 on the year and 2-0 in ASC action.
