Cowboys Split In Tennis

Hardin-Simmons’ tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday as the main lineup won its American Southwest Conference match at Sul Ross State, 9-0, and the younger guys played a home match and lost 5-1 to the University of the Southwest.

The main team won all three doubles matches in convincing fashion and five of the six singles matches were won in straight sets. Cullen Dees at No. 3, Sean Strehlow at No. 4 and Todd Henington at No. 6 all won 6-0, 6-0.

The match with the University of the Southwest as the Mustangs were slated to play in the ACU Tournament, but they had a late cancellation so the Cowboys agreed to play them.

HSU is now 4-6 on the year and 3-0 in ASC West play. Sul Ross State is 0-9 on the year and 0-3 in ASC action.
