

Cowboys Open Season With A Win
ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons’ defeated conference
rival Texas-Dallas to open its season on Saturday at the Streich
Tennis Center on the HSU campus in a non-conference match.
The Cowboys won two of three doubles matches and that proved to be
the difference. The Cowboys forfeited at No. 1 doubles and Stephen
Salazar and Sean Strehlow won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Todd Henington
and Trey Chavez held on for an 8-6 win at No. 3.
It turned out that the Cowboys needed all three wins as the
Cowboys lost four singles matches.
The teams split the singles matches with HSU winning at No. 3, No.
4 and No. 6. Emmanuel Navejas, Trey Chavez and Cullen Dees won
singles matches for the Cowboys.
