Tennis Has Strong Outing
ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons men's and women's tennis had strong outings today against Austin College as both teams won 9-0 in action at the Streich Tennis Center.
In the women's singles, Lisa Mertz beat Kelly Lewis 6-3, 6-1, Morgan Rainer beat Minnie Satyavada 7-5, 6-2, Lauren Jay beat Elizabeth Flint in a tie-breaker 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 and Brittany Brazell beat Emily Kuo 6-4, 6-1. Danielle Cochran and Diane Crouch both swept their matches 6-0, 6-0.
Mertz and Brazell beat Lewis and Satyavada 8-4 in their doubles match. Jennifer Cheung and Diane Crouch beat Flint and Kate Bailey 8-6 and Jay and Cochran beat Kuo and Paula Vercher 8-2.
In men's tennis action, Emmanuel Navejas beat Tyler Roush 6-4, 6-3 and Cullen Dees beat Anthony Cook 6-1, 6-2. Sean Strehlow, Trey Chavez, and Tony Record all swept their matches 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Chavez and Record beat Rouch and Cook 8-2 and Navejas and Dees beat Zack Bengston and Eric Gordon 8-1.
Both teams are 2-0 on the year. Both tennis teams return to action February 19th at the University of Texas-Dallas.
