Cowboys Blank Howard Payne, 9-0
ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' men's tennis team blanked Howard Payne 9-0 on Wednesday evening to set up a winner-take-all match with Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday for the American Southwest Conference West Division title.
The Cowboys cruised through the three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead and in singles HSU won all six matches in straight sets.
Sean Strehlow won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Michael McCullough won 6-0, 6-0.
HSU is now 10-5 on the year and 5-0 in ASC West action. Howard Payne fell to 7-9 overall and 3-2 in league play. The Cowboys close ASC play on Friday at Mary Hardin-Baylor.
