Cowboys Fall In ASC Semifinals

TYLER, Texas  — Hardin-Simmons saw its 2014 season come to an end with a 5-0 loss to Texas-Tyler in the American Southwest Conference semifinals on Saturday evening at the Summer Tennis Center in Tyler.

UTT took all three doubles matches. Erich Bein and Nathan Chavez lost a tough 9-7 decision at No. 1 doubles. 

In the singles action Daniel Budd won 6-2, 6-1 over Michael McCullough and Edward Timponi won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles against Andrew Eurek to end the match.

Freshman Sam May had won the first set at No. 4 singles and Nathan Chavez was in a tiebreaker in the first set when the match was completed.

The match ended the careers of seniors Bein and McCullough.

HSU finished the year 11-11 and Texas-Tyler improved to 21-3 and will play for the ASC title on Sunday.
