HSU Track Teams Have Solid Showing In First Outdoor Meet
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' track and field teams had a solid showing in the first outdoor meet of the spring at the Trinity Open on Saturday at Stevens Stadium in San Antonio.
Lauren Rogers ran a 1:00.61 in the 400 to place third. Kaitlin Roberts placed 10th in the 800 with a 2:31.15 and Julia Holub was 15th with a 2:38.43. Holub was 12th in the 1,500 with a 5:23.74.
Martika Davis ran a 14.28 in the 100 and 30.48 in the 200. Nicole Campbell was sixth in the 100 hurdles with a 17.07 and Rachel Allen was ninth. Halee Edwards was fourth in the 400 hurdles with a 1:09.76 Campbell was fifth with a 1:16.
Edwards, Campbell, Aaron Livingston and Jayci Shelton finished third in the 4x100 with a 53.12.
Branell Falcon finished 15th with a throw of 26-3 in the shot put. Shannon Shipp was 17th with a 25-6 ¾. In the discus Shipp placed sixth with a toss of 111-6. Rebecca Loney threw the javelin 100-1 to place eighth.
Kami Bellah was sixth in the high jump with a best of 4-11 ¾. She was ninth in the long jump with a 16-4 ¼.
On the men's side, Patrick Adams ran a 11.57 100 to place eighth. Jose Balanos placed 14th and Zeth Barron 18th. Kyle Hooper was ninth in the 200 with a time of 24.04 and was 14th in the 400 with a 56.26.
Derek Footer won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.27 and Sam Green was fourth with a 16.13. Footer was sixth in the 400 hurdles with a 1:05.47.
Footer, Adams, Bolanos and Hooper team for a 45.08 and fourth place finish in the 4x100 relay.
Garrett Monita was sixth in the 5,000 with a time of 18:20.64.
Green was sixth in the long jump with a 19-9 and fourth in the triple jump with a 42-2 ¼. Adams was eighth in the triple with a 40-1 ½.
Justin Grey was third in the shot put with a 43-05 and Dustin Baker was fourth with a 41 ¼. Justin Grey was second in the discus with a throw of 141-07 and Bryce Bevill was fourth with a 118-05. Baker was sixth with a 108-8.
Brendon Kelso was fifth in the javelin with a 152-01 and Bevill was sixth with a 126 and Barron seventh with a 105-04.
