Both HSU Track Teams in Third At ASC Meet

CLINTON, Miss. — Both Hardin-Simmons track teams are in third place after the first day of the American Southwest Conference Track and Field Championship in Clinton, Miss.

Freshman Garret Monita placed seventh in the 10,000 with a time of 39:10.57.

Kami Bellah finished third in the high jump with a 5-1.75 and was eighth in the long jump with a 16-10.75.

Shannon Shipp finished ninth in the shot put with a 32-3.75.

Three Cowboys scored in the shot put. Brendon Kelso went 43-8 to finish fourth, Justin Gray was fifth with a 43-4.5 and Dustin Baker was seventh with a 40-6.

Branell Falcon finished second in the hammer throw with a 135-7, Shipp placed fifth with a 104-8 and Rebecca Loney was seventh with a 101-5.

Kelso was second in the hammer throw with a 147-1. Bryce Bevill was seventh with a 123-5 and Justin Gray was eighth with a 122-7.

The Cowboys have 28 points. McMurry leads Texas-Tyler by two points 90-88. The Cowgirls have 21 points and trail leader Texas Lutheran (108) and McMurry (80).

The meet will conclude on Saturday.
