Newcombe Named ASC West Co-MVP
RICHARDSON, Texas - Lindsey Newcombe was named the co-Most Valuable Player in the American Southwest Conference West Division along with Kassandra Bills of Concordia and four other Hardin-Simmons women's basketball players were honored by the league's coaches in awards that were announced on Wednesday.
Newcombe averaged 17.3 points and 13.8 rebounds to lead the Cowgirls to a 22-6 record and all the way to the finals of the ASC Tournament. She set the ASC record for rebounds and blocked shots in a season with 385 rebounds and 83 blocked shots. Bills averaged a league-best 19.1 points per game.
Newcombe was also named to the all-ASC first team which encompasses the best five players from both divisions and she was also first-team all-ASC West Division.
Senior guard Mollie Brawner was named second-team all-ASC West Division after hitting an ASC-best 81 3-pointers and averaging 14.7 points per game. Bo Warm was also named to the second team as she averaged 10.7 points and had 113 assists on the year.
Haylee Allen was named honorable mention all-ASC West Division after averaging 13 points per game. She was also a member of the all-defensive team.
Angela Newcombe was named to the all-freshman team.
