Allen Named Academic All-American

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons women’s basketball
player Haylee Allen has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/College
Sports Information Director’s of America College Division
Academic All-American Second Team.
Allen, who has a 4.0 as an Education major, was one of just 12
players named to the team. The College Division is players from
NCAA Division II, III and NAIA levels. The award is voted on by
sports information director’s from across the nation and is
based on not only academics but success on the court as well. She
was one of only two juniors selected to the team.
Allen averages 13.4 points per game and shoots 46 percent from
3-point range. She is second on the team with 87 assists and is the
team’s top defender. She help lead the Cowgirls to a 20-5
record.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key
reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a
scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic
standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by
his/her sports information director.
Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed
Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in
Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship
sports.
