Newcombe Named All-Region

ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’ sophomore forward
Lindsey Newcombe has been selected to the D3hoops.com all-South
region first team.
Newcombe, who was the American Southwest Conference West Division
co-Player of the Year, led the Cowgirls to a 22-6 record. She
averaged 17.6 points and 13.8 rebounds per game. She was also
first-team all-ASC and all-ASC West Division and Academic all-ASC
this season.
She ranked second in the nation in rebounding and she also set the
ASC record for rebounds (385) and blocked shots in a season
(83).
A sophomore from Keller, Newcombe already ranks 13th on the schools
charts in scoring with 818 points, fourth in rebounding with 615
and third in blocked shots with 117.
Newcombe was joined on the first team by Becky Taylor of
Texas-Tyler, Chelsie Schweers of Christopher Newport, Melanie
Auguste of Colorado College and Krista Prato Matthews of Trinity.
Schweers was the South Region Player of the Year.
