Newcombe Claims Academic Award

ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons junior center Lindsey Newcombe has been named a college division academic all-district VI second-team selection by ESPN The Magazine and the College Sports Information Director’s of America.

Newcombe, who is one of the top players in the American Southwest Confernece, averaging 15.7 points and 11 rebounds per game made the team, which Is selected based on a combination of academics and athletics. She has a 3.52 GPA as a biology member.

The college division of CoSIDA consists of schools that play at the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College levels. District VI consists of all the schools in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana and New Mexico.
