Cowgirls Set To Face Mary Hardin-Baylor
ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team will return home to play Mary Hardin-Baylor in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex on Thursday night at 5:30.
The Cowgirls are currently 6-8 on the year and 4-6 in the ASC West, which is good for fourth place in the standings. UMHB is 2-13 overall and 1-10 in league play.
HSU is coming off a six-game 40-day road trip where they went 2-4, but the Cowgirls hope to get on a roll as they start a five-game home stand.
"It will be nice to be back in our home gym with our fans," said head coach Shanna Briggs. "We are playing better and we hope to just keep improving throughout the season. We have some experienced players that still have all of their goals in front of them and we are ready to get back on the court."
HSU has four players averaging in double figures, led by Angela Newcombe. The senior post is averaging 14.3 points and 12.7 rebounds per contest and is leading the ASC and is seventh nationally in rebounding.
The games will be broadcast on www.hsuathletics.com.
