Cowgirls Fall On The Road At UT Tyler

TYLER, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team fell 70-55 to UT Tyler in American Southwest Conference action at the Herrington Patriot Center in Tyler on Saturday afternoon.

UT Tyler used a 11-0 run in the first quarter to push the lead out to 18-6 and led 23-12 after the first quarter. HSU chipped the deficit down to 26-20, but a 10-2 run by the Patriots made it 36-22 at halftime.

The Cowgirls were unable to make a run in the second half. UT-Tyler forced 17 HSU turnovers that led to a 19-9 advantage in points off turnovers.

Kourtney Holyfield led the Cowgirls with nine points and Danie Mabry and Kayla Brown scored eight points each and Ja'Lee Carver and Deontae Ingram had seven points each.

Michelle Obach led four Patriots in double figures with 17 points. Makenzi May and Shuntay Raglin had 14 points each.

HSU is now 3-4 overall and 1-2 in league play. The Patriots improved to 6-2 overall and 1-2 in conference action. The Cowgirls will play at LeTourneau on Monday at 5:30.
