Cowgirls Fall 56-47 At Mary Hardin-Baylor

BELTON, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team fell 56-47 to Mary Hardin-Baylor in American Southwest Conference action at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.

The Cowgirls had an early 6-3 lead, but the Cru answered with a 13-3 to take a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the game. UMHB led 16-9 after the first quarter.

HSU scored the first seven points of the second quarter to tie the game at 16. UMHB led 24-20 at halftime.

A quick 10-2 run by UMHB to start the third quarter pushed the lead to 34-22, but the Cowgirls answered right back and cut the deficit to 38-35 in the third quarter and eventually cut it to 40-39 with 7:28 to play, but the Cru took advantage of three straight Cowgirl turnovers to push the lead back out.

Kayla Brown led a balanced Cowgirl attack with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Deontae Ingram had nine points and eight rebounds.

Kendra Wynn led the Cru with 19 points and Kendall Rollins added 10.

The Cowgirls are now 7-11 on the year and 3-7 in conference play. Mary Hardin-Baylor improved to 13-6 overall and 6-4 in conference play. HSU will play at Concordia at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
