Cowgirls In Seventh At Alamo City Classic


SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is in seventh place after the first round of the Alamo City Classic that is being held at the par-72, 5,814-yard River Crossing Golf Club in Spring Branch.

Ashley and Brittney Alvarez led the Cowgirls with 87 and 91 respectively. Kelcey Wells shot 98, Vanessa Vasquez shot a 99 and Sara Parker shot a 110.

Southwestern leads the tournament with a 315 total, followed by McMurry (323), St. Mary's (338), UT-Brownsville (346), Trinity (348), Texas Lutheran (361) and Hardin-Simmons (375). Kristen Davenport of Southwestern and Monica Harris of McMurry share the first round medalist lead after shooting 74.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
