LUFKIN, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team improved 35 shots from the first to second rounds to finish in seventh place at the American Southwest Conference Championships on Tuesday afternoon at the Crown Colony Golf Course in Lufkin.

Ragan Foos shot a round of 96, which was the best round for a Cowgirl in the tournament. She had a 112 on Monday and finished with a two-day 208.

Traci Tschirhart had the best two-round total for the Cowgirls with a 103-102-205. Kacy Bartlett had rounds of 111 and 105 for a 216 total and Stephanie Jones shot 115-103 for a 218 total.

Mary Hardin-Baylor won its ninth ASC women's golf title with a 340-346-686. They best Texas-Tyler by 31 shots. UMHB freshman Taylor O'Rear shot 80-81-161 to win the medalist race by 10 shots over teammate Sara Eckert.

The tournament concluded the Cowgirls season and all four players are sophomores or freshmen and should return for next year.
