Cowgirls Fall To No. 20 UWSP in Overtime

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- For the second straight game Hardin-Simmons went into overtime, but this time the Cowgirls had a late defensive lapse and No. 20 Wisconsin-Stevens Point scored in an empty net to win 1-0 Saturday evening in the Trinity University season-opening invitational in San Antonio.    

The goal came in the second overtime at the 103:42 by the Pointers Amanda Prawat.

Both team had several chances late in regulation with corner kicks, but both defense were up to the task to send the game to overtime.

Each team had a couple of chances to score in the overtime periods, but both goalkeepers made good saves. UWSP outshot the 20th-ranked Cowgirls 18-12 in the game and had 12 corners to the Cowgirls five.

Pam Luckow had seven saves for UWSP and Christi Carr had eight saves for the Cowgirls in goal.

HSU fell to 0-1-1 on the year and UWSP improved to 1-1. HSU plays at Rhodes Sept. 6 in Memphis in its next action.
