Cowgirls Stay Perfect in ASC Play
BELTON, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’
women’s soccer continued its undefeated march through the
American Southwest Conference with a 4-0 win over Mary
Hardin-Baylor, Friday afternoon at The Cru Sports Complex in
Belton.
Junior Amy Kuykendall, who continues to show signs that her
twice-repaired knee is getting stronger, put the Cowgirls on the
board at the 8:59 mark off a double assist from Carlyn Powers and
Katie Kuykendall. She later added another goal in the second half
giving her two goals in each of the last two games. Kuykendall, who
scored 26 goals en route to All-American honors as a freshman, now
has six goals on the year and 43 goals in her career.
Katie Kuykendall scored what was determined to be a goal right at
the halftime buzzer. It came off an assist from Powers and crossed
the line before time expired in the half.
HSU made it 3-0 on Amy Kuykendall’s second goal at the 78:11
mark, which came off an Austin Ricker assist. Ricker then got on
the board herself in the 84th minute off an assist from Miranda
Bersosa.
The Cowgirls have won 13 straight games and are now 13-1 and 9-0 in
ASC action. UMHB fell to 9-5 overall and 8-3 in league play. HSU
will play at Howard Payne on Saturday at 1 p.m.
