Cowgirls Advance To ASC Final
ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons’
women’s soccer team advanced to the final of the American
Southwest Conference Championship Tournament with a 5-0 win over
Mary Hardin-Baylor, Saturday afternoon at the HSU Soccer
Complex.
HSU dominated the game from the outset, as Miranda Bersosa scored
in the opening minute off a corner kick from Katie Kuykendall.
Bersosa scored again at the 30:52 mark on a double assist that went
from Carlyn Powers to Katie Kuykendall, who sent it across the box
to Bersosa.
Amy Kuykendall got on the board at the 51:08 mark on a nice pass
from Taylor Thigpen. Kelsey Byars scored in the 66th minute off a
corner kick from Kylie Rutherford.
Allison Ray had the Cowgirls final goal at the 68:10 mark.
The Cowgirls outshot UMHB 30-2 in the game, including 11-0 on goal.
Christi Carr and Becca Roth handled the duties in goal for the
Cowgirls.
HSU (17-1) will be looking for its seventh straight ASC title on
Sunday at 1 p.m. The game can be heard on www.hsuathletics.com UMHB
finished its season with a record of 12-6.
