Cowgirls Fall To Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas —
Hardin-Simmons’ season ended like it began, with a 1-0 loss
to Trinity this time in the third round of the NCAA Tournament,
Saturday evening at the Trinity Soccer Complex in San Antonio.
In a defensive battle that saw very limited chances for either
team, Trinity got its chance off a counter on a Hardin-Simmons
corner kick. Abigail Loar took the ball all the way from one end to
the other and slipped one past a diving Christi Carr for the
games’ lone score.
HSU had several chances to score late in the game in a flurry in
front of the Tiger goal. HSU had three corners and twice appeared
close to having a goal before the ball fell harmlessly off the
line.
Trinity outshot the Cowgirls in the game 14-10 and 5-2 on-goal.
HSU had a 7-4 advantage on corner kicks, including 6-2 in the
second half.
Carr had two or three great saves for the Cowgirls and ended with
four saves in the final game of her distinguished career.
The Cowgirls ended their season with a record of 20-2 and Trinity
improved to 18-0 and will play for the right to go to the Final
Four on Sunday against the winner of Lynchburg and
Concordia-Moorhead.
Seniors Jordan Morley and Lindsay Cogburn joined Carr in playing
their final career game.
