Stansell Named Academic All-American

ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons junior defender Sarah
Stansell has been named to the 2009 College Sports Information
Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine Academic all-American
College Division Third Team.
Stansell, who has a 4.0 GPA as a math major, is one of the top
defenders on the Cowgirl soccer team that has allowed only five
goals this season. She was a first-team All-ASC selection.
The ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA academic all-American Team is the only
official academic all-American program in the country. CoSIDA has
the term academic all-American trademarked.
The college division consists of schools in NCAA Division II, NCAA
Division III, NAIA and NJCAA. To be nominated to the team
student-athletes must have a 3.30 GPA or better and play in at
least 50 percent of the team’s games at the position they are
nominated. Athletic and academic achievement goes into the voting
process.
