Cowgirls Blank Wartburg

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team pitched its second straight shutout with a 4-0 win over Wartburg on Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.

The Cowgirls jumped out to an early first-half lead. Kami Jones had a pair of nice assists in the first 21 minutes. First, she found Olivia Harman who buried a shot into the lower left corner of the goal at the 14:08 mark. Sarah Krisa then scored off a Jones cross into the box in the 21st minute.

The game remained 2-0 until the 68th minute, as Kenne Kessler was able to get a rebound through traffic into the top corner of the net to make it 3-0.

In the 85th minute, Rachel Bean scored her first career goal. The play started with a Tori Waters corner that was then headed down by Kyleigh Ellis right to Bean who put it away for the score.

The Cowgirls had a 17-8 advantage in shots in the games and had a 13-8 advantage in shots on goal.

Caitlin Christiansen had three saves in goals for the Cowgirls in 76:33 of action and Casey Carrillo came in to finish off the shut out.

HSU is now 3-0 on the year and Warburg fell to 2-1. The Cowgirls will play Aurora University on Sunday at noon at Trinity University in San Antonio.
