Clark, Namey, Jordan Earn ASC Top Honors

RICHARDSON, Texas - Junior shortstop Courtney Clark, freshman catcher Taylor Namey and head coach Rita Jordan all won top honors as voted by the head softball coaches in the American Southwest Conference.

Clark was named the ASC West Player of the Year after hitting .444 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs. She also stole 21 bases and led the ASC in hits with 67, triples with five and assists with 102.

Namey was named the ASC West Freshman of the Year after hitting .380 with 14 home runs and 59 RBIs. The home run and RBI totals led the ASC West and also set HSU school records.

Jordan was named the co-ASC West Coach of the Year with Don Green of Schreiner. Jordan took the Cowgirls from a 16-18 record last to a turnaround to 31-12 and the third ASC West title in five years for HSU.

Namey and Clark were joined on the all-ASC West Division first team by freshman second baseman Amy Meyer, sophomore centerfielder Cera Beasley, junior designated player Katie Shurbet and freshman pitcher Sarah Shurbet.

Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Lacie Cole was named second team as a utility player and sophomore Laura Rawlings was second team as a pitcher. Junior right fielder Callie Rice earned honorable mention honors.
