Clark Named Academic All-American

ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons’ junior softball
shortstop Courtney Clark has been named College Division Academic
All-American by ESPN The Magazine and the College Sports
Information Director’s of America.
Clark, who hit .447 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs, was the
American Southwest Conference West Player of the Year. She also
posted a 3.95 grade point average as a Fitness and Sports Sciences
major. She helped lead the Cowgirls to the ASC West title and to
the ASC Tournament this season.
She is the third HSU Athlete to be named academic All-American this
season by CoSIDA, joining Haylee Allen from women’s
basketball. She is the 24th HSU athlete since the inception of the
American Southwest Conference in 1997 to earn the accolade, which
is the most of any school in the conference.
The college division includes teams from NCAA Division II, III and
NAIA schools.
