ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team fell 10-1 in five innings to Belhaven in the finale of their American Southwest Conference series on Saturday afternoon at Ellis Field.
The Blazers came out hot with four runs in the first inning, the big blow was a three-run home run home run by Cassidy Blount.
Belhaven scored three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Jordan Herring scattered two hits for the Blazers to improve to 5-0 on the year. Gabby Ortega took the loss allowing 10 runs on 15 hits in four and two-third innings. Genia Salazar got the final out for HSU.
Kenyon and Taylor Lopez had the two hits for the Cowgirls. Five different Blazers had two hits each.
HSU is now 0-14 overall and 0-9 in conference play. Belhaven improved to 11-2 overall and 6-0 in ASC play. HSU will play McMurry on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Red Bud Park.
