CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Hardin-Simmons' softball team closed its American Southwest Conference series at the University of the Ozarks with a 12-5 loss on Sunday afternoon in Clarksville, Ark.
The Cowgirls are now 1-34 overall and 1-26 in ASC play and the Eagles improved to 6-19 overall and 7-14 in ASC play.
Ozarks jumped on the Cowgirls with an 11-run second inning that put the game out of reach.
HSU scored a single run in the third inning on a Kirsten Kenyon RBI single. The Cowgirls scored four times in the fifth inning to take the run rule out of play. Kenyon had an RBI single, Kaitlyn McCoy had an RBI fielder's choice, Kaycee Koiner had an RBI single and Lexie Allen had an RBI single.
Hannah Oler worked four innings for the win to improve to 3-9. Haley Martin worked the final three innings for the save.
Kenyon had two hits and drove in two runs and Shadye Millican added two hits for the Cowgirls. Madden had three hits and drove in three runs for Ozarks.
