Cowgirls Split In Weekend Tennis

Hardin-Simmons’ women’s tennis team split a pair of matches this weekend as the Cowgirls defeated Howard Payne on Friday, 8-1, and then they lost to Trinity (Conn.), 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at UT-Dallas. The Cowgirls had a third match scheduled and it was 2-2 against Birmingham Southern when a power failure ended the match and it will not be made up.

In the match with Howard Payne, the Cowgirls won two singles matches in the third set and another in a second set tiebreaker. They also swept the doubles.

Jennifer Cheung won at No. 5 singles for the Cowgirls and Lisa Mertz and Brittany Brazell won at No. 1 doubles for the only two wins.
