Cowgirls Set For ASC Tournament

ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons’ women’s tennis
team closes its regular season with a 7-2 loss to national power
Trinity, Friday afternoon at the Streich Tennis Center.
The Cowgirls won two of the three doubles, including an impressive
8-3 win by Brittany Brazell and Lisa Mertz at No. 1 over Katie
Griffith and Katy Poettcker. Mertz lost to Pettcker in three sets
at No. 1 singles and the rest of the Cowgirls lost in straight
sets.
HSU finishes the regular season campaign with a record of 11-4 and
they won their 11th straight American Southwest Conference
title.
The Cowgirls will have a first-round bye in the ASC Tournament next
weekend and they will play the winner of Mississippi College and
Howard Payne in a semifinal at 4 p.m. on Saturday at McMurry.
