ASC Individuals Tournament


TYLER, Texas  — Several Hardin-Simmons tennis players are still alive in the championship brackets of the American Southwest Conference Individual Tournament in Tyler.

Men's Singles

Flight 1 - Michael McCullough went 2-0 and upset second-seed Christian Banning of Mississippi College in three sets. He will play in the semifinals on Saturday morning.

Flight 2 – Jesse Rawlings lost in the first round and will be in the consolation bracket on Saturday.

Flight 3 – Nathan Chavez advanced to the semifinals with a win and then an injury default by his opponent.

Flight 4 – Jordan Wilson lost in the first round and will be in the consolation bracket on Saturday.

Flight 5 – Frankie Sanchez went 1-1 to bow out of the tournament.

Flight 6 – Justin Fry lost in the first round and will be in the consolation bracket on Saturday.

 

Men's Doubles

Flight 1 – McCullough and Sanchez lost in the first round.

Flight 2 – Chavez and Rawlings won a pair of matches and have advanced to the semifinals.

Flight 3 – Fry and Wilson went 1-1.

 

Women's Singles

Flight 1 – Laura Haney lost in the first round and will be in the consolation bracket on Saturday.

Flight 2 – Genene Haddad went 2-0 and upset the second seed and will play in the semifinals on Saturday morning.

Flight 3 – Chasity Ross lost in the first round and will be in the consolation bracket on Saturday.

Flight 4 – Tram Le lost in the first round and will be in the consolation bracket on Saturday.

Women's Doubles

Flight 1 – Haddad and Haney went 2-0 including a win over the No. 2 seed and will play in the semifnals.

Flight 2 – Le and Ross lost in the first round.

Action begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
