Cowgirls Look For Eighth Straight Title

TYLER, Texas - Hardin-Simmons cruised to the American Southwest Conference women's tennis finals with a 5-1 win over Mississippi College, Saturday in Tyler.

Lisa Mertz, Jennifer Chueng and Diane Crouch won singles matches for the Cowgirls. The other singles matches did not finish. Mertz won 6-0, 6-0 over Emily Newman at No. 2, Chueng won 6-0, 6-1 to Claire Cox at No. 4 and Crouch won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.

The Cowgirls won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with Tracy Henington and Lisa Mertz winning 9-7 at No. 1 and Bria Camarillo and Brittany Brazell winning 8-1 at No. 2 singles.

The Cowgirls are now 11-6 on the year and will go for their eight straight American Southwest Conference title at 4 p.m. Sunday against UT Tyler.
