Cowgirls Provisionally Qualify 4X400 Team


ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons women’s track team took another step toward winning a Division III National title in its first season of competition as its 4X400 relay team provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships and Ashley Huston ran the best time in the nation in the 400 hurdles with a 1:01.81 at the Oliver Jackson Relays at ACU.

The 4x400 team of Jordan Manning, Dacy Ivey, Haylee Allen and Ashley Huston ran a time of 3:55.53 which hits the provisional mark and is currently the seventh best time in the nation.

Huston was second in the 400 hurdles, but her time gives her the top mark in four events in the nation. She is now qualified at least provisionally in seven events counting the relay.

Jordan Manning was seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 25.83 and she hit the provisional mark in the long jump with a leap of 18-00 1/2. Haylee Allen was eighth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.82. Dacy Ivy was fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.49 and Allen was seventh with a 1:08.12.

On the men’s side, Kyle Pinkerton was seventh in the hammer throw with a 144-07. Brendan Kelso was fifth in the javelin with a 163-08.
