Cowgirls Compete In Season Opening Meet


 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's cross country team had a solid showing in its first outing of the fall season at the McMurry Twilight Relays at Abilene's Nelson Park.

Cowgirl freshmen Lindsey Hinton and Lydia Bjork led the Cowgirl contingent with a second-place finish. They had a combined time of 26:51 in the 2x2 - mile relay format. McMurry's Carla Lewis and Alaisha Guerra won the event with a time of 26:29.

Freshmen Jayme Wills and Whitney Rankin finished seventh one second behind a twosome from ACU in 29:06. Veterans Alyssa Thompsoin and Allison Robertson finished eith with a 29:59. Vanessa Montelongo and Trissy Herrington were ninth with a 31:30 and Maloree Kendall and Delanie Walker finished with a 32:37.

ACU, McMurry and HSU competed in the season-opening event.
