HSU Track Teams In Third At ASC Championships
ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’ men’s and women’s track teams are each in third place after the first day of the American Southwest Conference Track and Field Championships that are being held at McMurry.
Brannell Falcon won the women’s hammer with a toss of 37.76 and Rebecca Loney placed eighth with a 32.18.
Maloree Kendall defended her title in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 12:09.83.
Kami Bellah finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters and third in the high jump clearing 1.53 meters.
Vanessa Montelongo placed second in the 10,000 with a time of 42:47.43 and Whitney Rankin was eighth.
Brendon Kelso, who is battling an elbow injury placed fourth in the hammer with a toss of 42.66 meters and Taylor Hollingshead finished seventh with a 34.62. Kelso was also fourth in the discus with a toss of 13.31 meters.
Marcus Estrada placed fourth in the 10,000 with a time of 39:36.98. Kameron Hartfield placed fourth in the steeplechase with a time of 11:02.06.
The second day of the meet will take place on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
