Cowgirls Sweep Howard Payne

ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’ women’s
volleyball team moved to 2-1 in American Southwest Conference play
with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-21 win over Howard Payne Saturday morning
at the Mabee Complex.
HSU jumped out early to a dominating lead in the first game and
won 25-16. HSU hit .424 in the first game. The Cowgirls were never
really threatened in any of the three games.
Kaela Parnell led the Cowgirls with 19 kills on 27 swings. Chelsie
Fowler added 12 kills for HSU. The Cowgirls defense was led by four
double-digit diggers. Fowler had 27, Gracen Harris had 20, Sam
Lucien had 15 and Emilee Davis had 14.
Lucien and Erin Davis ran the offense with 23 and 17 assists.
Tamika Heline led Howard Payne with 10 kills.
HSU improved to 5-4 on the year and 2-1 in league play. Howard
Payne fell to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in ASC play. The Cowgirls return
to action on Wednesday at the Mabee Complex when they host
cross-town rival McMurry.
