HSU Set To Host McMurry in Volleyball

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team is set to host crosstown rival McMurry in American Southwest Conference action on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowgirls are riding a 17-match winning streak in the Mabee Complex that dates back to the 2006 season.

Anytime McMurry and Hardin-Simmons play there is a lot riding on the match, but both teams are fighting for position in the ASC West and with only three teams advancing to the ASC Tournament, protecting your home court is an almost must.

HSU comes into the game with a 5-4 record on the year and 2-1 in league play. McMurry is 4-6 overall and 1-2 in league play.

The Cowgirls attack is led by seniors Kaela Parnell and Chelsie Fowler. Parnell leads the ASC with a .394 hitting percentage and Fowler is among the league leaders in kills with 89. Parnell is 19 kills away from becoming the HSU leader in career kills.

The match will feature the top three blockers in the ASC. Parnell leads the league in blocks per game with 1.16 and Terah Brown and M.J. Vickers of McMurry are averaging 1.15 blocks per game.

It will also feature the top three diggers in the league. Fowler leads the league, while McMurry's Sarah Anding is second and Gracen Harris is third.

Admission to the match is free and McMurry is providing its video stream of the match - for a fee at http://mcmurry-allaccess.sidearmsports.com/showcase
