BROWNWOOD, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat Howard Payne, 25-17, 23-25, 15-25, 25-15, 15-8 in American Southwest Conference action at the Brownwood Coliseum on Tuesday evening.
HSU had a strong first game as it hit .250, but had a hard time converting in games two and three. HSU hit just .032 in the second game and hit a negative .125 in the third game.
However, the Cowgirls battled out of the hitting slump and responded with a .222 hitting percentage in a 25-15 win in game four. The Cowgirls dominated the fifth game to win the match.
Sas compiled her fifth double-double of the season with a season-best 20 digs. Emilee Davis and Reyes each added 14 digs to help pace a solid Cowgirl defense.
HSU is now 8-2 on the year and has won seven straight matches. The Cowgirls are 3-0 in ASC action and will host Schreiner and Texas Lutheran in their first home action of the season. Howard Payne fell to 4-7 overall and 0-3 in ASC play.
