ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team swept Concordia, 25-19, 25-12, 25-22 in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex on Tuesday night.
HSU controlled the match from the outset and used a 6-2 run at the end of the first game to win the first game, 25-19.
In the second game, the Cowgirls pushed out to an 18-8 lead and rolled to a 25-12 win. In the final game, Concordia led 18-15, but HSU used an 8-1 run to take over the lead and held on for the sweep.
Allison Kuster led the Cowgirl offensive attack with 12 kills. Grace Schulz added four solo blocks and an assisted block and had nine kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Leecia DePaula had 13 digs and Mary Johnson added 11. Ashley Pierce had 25 assists in the match.
Marissa Stinson led Concordia with seven assists and Kelly Franna had nine digs.
The Cowgirls are now 5-9 overall and 2-1 in ASC play. Concordia fell to 5-5 overall and 2-1. The Cowgirls return to action on Friday against East Texas Baptist at the ASC Crossover in Longview.
