Cowgirls Split At ASC Crossover

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team split a pair of matches at the American Southwest Conference crossover on Saturday at the Mabee Complex.

HSU 3, Belhaven 0

In the first match for the Cowgirls on Saturday, HSU rolled by Belhaven 25-9, 25-18, 25-18.

Grace Schulz and Allison Kuster each had 12 kills for the Cowgirls. HSU hit .213 as a team. Leecia De Paula led HSU with 16 digs and Megan Bauer added 13. Kuster added 10 digs to give her a double-double in the match. Ashley Pierce had 38 assists. 

The Cowgirls had a 17-1 run to close the first game and Megan Bauer was on the serve for the final 13 points of the game. She had four aces in the run. HSU took early advantages in the final two games and held on.

UTD 3, HSU 0

The Comets swept the Cowgirls 25-20, 25-14, 25-22 in the final match of the crossover.

Kuster and Schulz had 10 kills each to lead the Cowgirls. Kuster had 13 digs to lead the Cowgirls and give her another double-double. DePaula added 12 digs for the Cowgirls. Pierce had 36 assists.

HSU is now 10-14 overall and 7-6 in conference play. UTD improved to 18-4 overall and 12-2 in ASC play.

The Cowgirls will host McMurry on Thursday at the Mabee Complex at 7 p.m.
