Matt Pitcock Signs Professional Contract
BERN, Switzerland – Former Hardin-Simmons soccer player Matt Pitcock has signed to play professionally with FC Bern in Bern Switzerland.

FC Bern has a long history in the capital city of Switzerland dating back to 1894. They play in The 1 Erste Liga.

The team's season runs from August to November and the second half goes from March to May.

"It is a great situation for me," said Pitcock. "I am going to give them everything I have. I am thankful for the opportunity."

Pitcock, who as an all-ASC and all-region performer for the Cowboys, scored 24 career goals and had 19 assists as a midfielder for HSU.

Pitcock impressed the team in a tryout that was arranged by former HSU player Ruedi Zahner who was a teammate of current HSU head coach Dan Heger. Zahner was a longtime Swiss professional player and coach. Pitcock scored the game-winning goal in their first scrimmage.

"Matt really grew and developed as a player at HSU," said Heger. "He has an uncanny ability to make a big play when it is needed in a game. We are proud of him and wish him luck.
