Cowboys Fall 3-1 To Mary Hardin-Baylor
ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Mary Hardin-Baylor in American Southwest Conference action at the HSU Soccer Complex on Friday afternoon.

The first half was played in a steady rain and Logan Keeler put the Cru up in the 20th minute on an assist from McKenna Cook.

It dried up late in the first half and Ben Hammonds made it 2-0 1:30 into the second half on a nice pass from Case Carnes.

HSU responded in the 51st minute on a Cole Johnson penalty kick.

The Cru put it away in the 85th minute when Carnes got a breakaway and was able to chip in a shot from about 40 yards to make it 3-1.

The game was wide open with both teams having multiple chances to score. UMHB outshot the Cowboys 12-10 in the game and 7-5 on target.

Game Notes

  • The game was the first this season that was not decided by one or fewer goals for the Cowboys.
  • HSU was 3-0-1 in the last four meetings between the two teams.  
  • HSU now leads the series 20-13-3.


The Cowboys fell to 5-5-1 on the year and 3-3 in ASC action. UMHB is now 5-4-1 overall and 3-2 in league play.
