Cowboys Win 7th Straight over Howard Payne

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team won over Howard Payne 4-2 on Thursday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.

Kiko Redondo scored in the opening minute off a Freddy Hernandez assist to make it a 1-0 Cowboy lead. Mackenson Cadet scored the second Cowboy goal off an Austin Wills assist in the 23rd minute.

The Yellow Jackets scored in the 24th minute with a Jorge Perez goal to make it 2-1. HSU pushes the lead back to two with a Miguel Rosas goal in the 38th minute, but Howard Payne's Alexander Paz scored in the 42nd minute to make it 3-2 Cowboys at the half.

The scoring cooled off in the second, and the Cowboys added their last goal on Cadet's second of the day with a Darios Masha assist in the 67th minute, making it a 4-2 final in the Cowboy win.

The Cowboys had 18 shots with eight on frame and the Yellow Jackets had 10 shots with three on goal. HSU had three corners and Howard Payne had two on the night.

Rafa Mejorado got the win in goal for the Cowboys with one save and Howard Payne had two keepers play, Matt Prall with two saves and Andrew Hackney with two saves.

The Cowboys are now 7-0 on the season and will host Louisiana College at home next Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at the HSU Soccer Complex in Abilene.
