ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team won 1-0 against the University of the Ozarks Eagles in American Southwest Conference play on Thursday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowboys scored what would become the game-winning goal when Jacob Gonzales played a drop out of a crowded box to Austin Wills who scored on a long shot into the upper corner in the fourth minute of the game.
The Cowboys suffered a red card which put them a man down for the last 44 minutes of the game, and Hardin-Simmons was able to bunker down and keep the Eagles out of the goal to finish with a 1-0 Cowboy victory.
The Cowboys had eight shots and three on frame while Ozarks had 19 total shots and three on goal. The Cowboys had one corner and the Eagles had eight.
Trent Ivy got the start in goal for the Cowboys and had three saves in the shutout win. Ozarks' starting keeper Logan Valestin had two saves in the loss.
The Cowboys get the win and are now 11-1 on the year and 4-1 in the ASC. Ozarks falls to 7-3-1 and 3-2 in conference play. The Cowboys return home on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to host Texas-Dallas.
