RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team had seven players named to the 2019 All-American Southwest Conference teams as voted on by the league's coaches.
Junior transfer Mackenson Cadet earned the Midfielder of the Year award for the Cowboys as well as first-team all-ASC. Cadet was a fantastic addition to the team as a transfer and was a force to be reckoned with all season. He tallied six goals and three assists on the year along with two game-winning goals.
Sophomore midfielder Austin Wills was named to the all-ASC second team, his second all-ASC selection in his career. Wills had three goals and five assists this season, serving most of the Cowboy free kicks on the year.
Junior defender Gilbert Mugisha was named third-team all-ASC. Mugisha has been a steady presence on the Cowboy back line all year. Sophomore Kiko Redondo was also named to the third team at forward. Kiko has five goals and two assists this season along with three game-winning goals.
Senior midfielder Preston Hillis was named third-team all-ASC as well, his third all-ASC honor of his career. Preston has been a centerpiece in the team's formation for years, winning the Cowboys possessions all over the field.
Senior Jacob Gonzales was named all-ASC honorable mention with one goal and five assists at forward. Jacob was always a spark for the Cowboy offense, noted as the hardest worker by his coaching staff. His ridiculous ability to launch a flip throw inside the six-yard box didn't hurt either.
Junior goalkeeper Trent Ivy earned his second all-ASC honor of his career being named honorable mention this season. Trent battled to return from injury this year and compiled 27 saves in 670 minutes of action while only allowing five goals against him.
