SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team dropped its season opener 3-2 in double overtime at Trinity late on Saturday night.
Trinity jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Abigail Loar and Lindsay Euers in the first 12 minutes.
HSU responded with back-to-back goals by Katie Kuykendall in the 16th and 31st minutes. The teams then fought through a scoreless second half and first overtime.
Loar then scored in the 103rd minute to give the Tigers the win. Trinity outshot the Cowgirls 16-11 and it was even on-goal at 6-6.
The Cowgirls will travel to Southwestern for a game on Tuesday.
